Catholic Church "Saint Cyril and Methodius and Saint Benedict"

Construction: 1939 година
Municipality: Ohrid
Country: Macedonia

In one of the most beautiful cities in Macedonia and beyond, in Ohrid, near the shores of Lake Ohrid, there is a Catholic Church dedicated to the three protectors of Europe, the Slavic apostles, the brothers St. Cyril and Methodius and St. Benedict.
As a church community, that is, as a branch church, it has existed since 1939 and is part of the parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Bitola.

During that period, the Lazarist priests from Bitola cared for the Catholics in Ohrid and the surrounding areas. In addition to the many priests who served in Bitola and Ohrid, the following would stand out: Father Petar Tashev, Father Andrej Lukan, Father Janez Smolich, Don Branko Dorcic, Father Drago Pokorn, and the last of the Lazarist priests, Father Risto Delijanov.

Towards the end of the nineties of the last century, in 1997, the construction of a new church and Pastoral Center began, which was completed in 2000. It was consecrated on October 28, 2007, by Cardinal Vinko Pulić.

On September 2, 2003, two Jesuits from the Croatian province, Father Stjepan Kusan and Father Srechko Cetinic, came to Ohrid from Zagreb and took over the spiritual care of the Catholic Church and the Pastoral Center. They remain until 2010, when Fr. Oliver Tantushev, who is the current parish priest of the church.

As part of the Catholic Church in Ohrid, there is also the Pastoral Center, which started working in the fall of 2003. This Pastoral Center is where spiritual programs for different groups of people are primarily organized and held. These groups mainly include youth, older people, married couples, and parish activists. The center of these spiritual encounters is prayer and the Holy Eucharist. And that's why these meetings and gatherings aim not only at physical recreation in Ohrid but primarily at getting to know faith and spiritual values better.
